The Flute Makes No Claim

Day 8 PM: Guided Meditation — 10-Day Summer '26 Retreat

A guided meditation into transparency... the quiet softening of the belief that this life belongs to me. It begins by noticing all that is already happening without an owner: the breath already breathing, the heart already beating, thoughts and sensations already unfolding. Then it turns towards the subtle contraction around the word “I”... is it true that I am breathing, or is breathing simply happening? Even the sense of me is seen to appear within awareness, known and held like everything else, nothing to push away, only to be recognised for what it is.

The atmosphere is reverent and spacious, threaded with a prayer that nothing stand between this life and the divine, this heart and love, these hands and service. At its centre is a tender image: the body, mind and heart as instruments not to be controlled or perfected but simply tuned and made available, like a flute that makes no claim upon the music moving through it, yet without which this particular song could never be heard. This body is not an obstacle to the divine but one of the countless ways it reveals itself. A Divine Light Transmission runs throughout, and the meditation rests in the recognition that this life has always belonged to the divine... existence itself, shining through, having this human experience.

Recorded: 10th July 2026, afternoon session of Day 8 on the 10-Day Diving Deep Summer 2026 Retreat.
